Garth Courtyard

Facility: Mount Saint Michael Academy

Architect: Gallin Beeler Design Studio

Civil Engineer: Catizone Engineering, PC

Landscape Architect: IQ Landscape Architects

The Marist Brothers at Mount Saint Michael Academy in the Bronx wanted to transform an existing enclosed courtyard into a tranquil and relaxing space for use by the retired Brothers who live in an adjacent building. The existing space had become run down over the past 50 years with sidewalks and paving which presented a challenge to the Brothers taking a stroll or praying the stations of the cross located around the periphery of the courtyard. The redesigned courtyard will have new paved sidewalks and patios providing a path for exercise, enjoyment of the new gardens and praying the stations, a covered pavilion, an enlarged fish pond, and raised flower beds filled with lush greenery and colorful perennial plants.
